Four Years

On Thursday we will have been married four years!!  I cannot believe it.  Here we are looking pretty smug and satisfied in our walk down the aisle.  :)

So far we have been bowling and gone to see a movie in the theater to celebrate #4.  On Thursday we will go to a surprise restaurant (David's planning).

My Birthday

Today I am 27 years old .... and I'm getting old enough to when it doesn't really matter how old I am anymore :S.  David and his friend Jim made us waffles for dinner on my new waffle iron David got me for my birthday.  They also got KFC and PURE maple syrup to go along with it.  So, there you have it -- "homemade" chicken and waffles as a birthday dish! We watched an episode of Downtown Abbey Series 2 (also a birthday gift) -- man, do I love that show!

I often take for granted my loving husband.  Sometimes I complain about not having more ... but he is a real treasure to me.  I am so happy God brought us together when He did.  We're only in it nearly 4 years but we are getting better and better at being married.  :)

Please keep praying for David.  He is taking his last final tomorrow and is studying diligently right now.  He is not going on a summer assignment so that he can get Greek down from the beginning.  That means he's auditing Summer Greek so that he can pass it in the spring, right before he graduates, Lord-willing.  He has grown so much in his study habits since we moved here two years ago.

I am also nearing the end of my first full year as a second grade teacher.  I can't believe it -- it has FLOWN by.  I have had a sweet little class of ten -- sweet, yet they have kept me on my toes.  Who knew how many times one could "tell" on a classmate in one day?!?! :S  When I come home, I'm tired, but a different kind of tired than a sixth grade teacher.  Sixth grade teachers come home tired of marking papers all afternoon and keeping boys and girls away from each other.  Second grade teachers come home tired of being pulled in twenty different directions at once.  It's quite the balancing act -- the good ones make it look easy, but I know the truth!  Tomorrow is their final spelling test of the year.  They don't know it's the last one -- I can't wait to see the look on their faces when I tell them!!

Our sweet Sarah is snoring right next to me.  She is doing great and spoiled rotten.  She even got a little piece of waffle that fell earlier.  :)

I hope I am not getting the stomach flu.  Two boys in my class have thrown up at school in the past week.  I just hope it's the birthday meal that is making me feel a little queasy tonight, plus the birthday donuts I had at work...

Why We Are Blogging Again

Welcome to David and Amanda's blog!  :)  We are turning over a new leaf with getting rid of Facebook.  We hope to have a lot more time to spend doing worthwhile things and having adventures.  :)  I decided to start a personal blog so that those who are praying for us and don't always get to see us will be able to stay in touch better.  I haven't had a blog since before I became a teacher, so I am a little rusty.  Hopefully I can make this thing look a little prettier and more interesting to read over the next few weeks.  :)
